The label says comedienne, but this is a bitter little piece of proto-feminism. I like this song, actually. She sounds pissed.

One of my more damaged records, making transcription very difficult. I have a feeling some of my interpretations are...silly. Eh. I know the sheet music is out there.

You know, folks, I'm glad I'm single.
I'm glad I'm free.
I never let nobody
Make a fool out of me.

[...], lookout!
[...]
[...]
That's why I'm glad I can say...

I don't have to worry my mind
Because I'm no-one's fool.
Say, I'm a struttin', independent kind
Because I'm no-one's fool.

I come and go, just as I please.
I've got a dog that I can fight and tease.
No-one around to love or abide,
[...] so delicious, won't you speak to your guide.

I don't have to raise overhead,
Because I'm no-one's fool.
Ain't no-one living off me yet,
To make me change my rule.

Girls, when you get married,
Kiss freedom goodbye.
You never miss the water till the well runs dry.
But no-one's going to bury me until I die,
Because I'm no-one's fool.

I don't have to worry my mind
Because I'm no-one's fool.
Say, the man that said love is blind
Sure learned a lot at school.

I come and go, just as I please.
I leave the honey to feeding the bees.
No-one around to serve or appease,
When I lay down to sleep, my troubles cease.    [Bit close to the bone, that]

I don't have to raise overhead,
Because I'm no-one's fool.
Ain't no-one living off me yet,
To make me change my rule.

You pick up a paper, and you see
A husband shoots his wife, and they set him free.
And no-one's going to make a shooting gallery out of me!
Because I'm no-one's fool.
